Canvases and Collage Posters

Canvases and collage posters differ only with respect to the material they are printed on, and to their production size.

On canvases a border of approx. 3 cm is folded over for mounting on a wooden frame. The folded border forms a visible edge on the mounted canvas.

In contrast to normal posters, which are simply large prints, collage posters give you the same design options as canvas.

On the welcome screen select the required product "Canvas" or "Collage Poster" (with or without a frame as required).

Set the required size for your canvas or collage poster.

The product editor appears.

You can change the size or toggle between canvas and collage poster later on if needed in the product properties (above the object browser).

In canvas production part of the photo is folded over for mounting on the wooden frame and is therefore no longer visible from the front. You can see the original image size in the layout frame for the background image.

When selecting the background image, or even when taking photographs, ensure that you do not have any important image content at the edges of the image, as this will be lost due to the border.

Product properties

Use this to choose between a canvas and a collage poster, and to select the size of the finished product.

Caution:
This changes the bleed of the background image. Make sure you do not lose any content at the edges. Images close to the edge can be cut off due to the change in format or selection of a different product.

The canvas/collage poster object browser

The object browser typically comprises four different tabs:
"Images", "Layout", "Design" and "Frame".

Start by selecting an image which you will use as the background for your canvas or collage poster. A selection of preconfigured "layouts" is available; you may have the option of selecting a "Frame" if needed.
This does not refer to a printed frame, but to an actual wooden frame on which your canvas or collage poster will be mounted for delivery.
Refer to the section "Frames for Canvas and Collage Posters".

The canvas/collage poster editor object toolbar

The object toolbar contains the most important tools or commands which you can apply to an object selected in the product editor, or which let you insert a new object.

Pay attention to the tool tips.

In addition to the standard tools, they include layout, image and text object tools as well as tools for images and text, e.g. for rotating the object or formatting the text.
(See the chapter on the object toolbar.)

The canvas/collage poster editor

You can design your product in the canvas/collage poster editor workspace, create your own layout with layout frames and texts, and use the object browser to insert images.

Alternatively, you can use a layout template.

By default the canvas/collage poster is displayed in landscape format. If you need a portrait layout, first turn the workspace in the editor (button in the product toolbar) and then rotate the photo within the layout frame in the other direction (button in the "Images" toolbar).
